LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE
“You will not know how worthy you are until you shine your light for others to see through.”
by Samuel Akinola
Imagine a great city plunged into darkness; thick gloom covers the city, leaving the inhabitants groping here and there for their way. Hissing and cursing of the people fill the glommed air of the city, knocking into one another in the darkness of the city. How did you think the inhabitants of this dark city would feel when at a sudden bright light shines from nowhere and cut through the darkness of the city? Shouts of joy and vast relief will overwhelm them, having now light to steer the affairs of their lives without stumbling.
As bright and modernised as the world might seem, many people are still living in darkness, away from the light of God that everyone needs to be what God destined each one to be. As a devote child of God, Jesus Christ has made you a light to the world, you will not realise how valuable you are to God until you utilised your God-given potentials to bring light to the lives of many people on earth.
Jesus said in the gospel of St.John 8v12, saying “… I am the light of the world, he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” If you follow Jesus faithfully, the light of God in you will never fail, obeying Him and applying His teaching and allow Him to guide you in life is light unto you.
God who created you put unique ability inside you to make you a light in this dark world. That is another reason Jesus said in the gospel of Matthew 5v14-16, saying, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” God endowed you with potentials and He wants you to use them to His glory.
Ask yourself, what can you do to make your light shine to the glory of God? Many are going a strayed today; your God-given wisdom might counsel them in the right way. Many are dying because of wanting, you can have the means to give out from your heart and help the needy. Though the needy are not always the poor, whomever you have the chance to help do it to the glory of God. The talents God gave you might bring light to the lives of many if used in the right way. You might have the duty to spread the gospel and save lives, and then why not get started? In the great house of God there are many duties, know your duty and do your part for Jesus. So get up and get-doing brethren let your light shine for the world to see to God’s glory, but let it not be through pride but love and dedication to Jesus Christ.
